Competition time – get your poetry caps on!

September 20, 2013

irrigatingThis year’s theme for National Poetry Day (next Thursday, 26th September) is ‘Water, Water Everywhere’ – and as water is so important for our little leaves we thought we’d join in the celebrations with a Limerick competition.

All you have to do is send us your water-themed limerick – use the Contact Us link here on the website or drop us a PM on Facebook by Sunday 6th October. Be as creative as you like, but please keep them reasonably clean and legal – or we won’t be able to share them with everyone!  Entries must be received by Sunday 6th October and we’ll announce the winner the following week.

joseph joseph colanderWe’ll be sending our winner the fantastic JosephJoseph ‘Rinse&Chop Plus’ chopping board and integrated colander.

Oh, and do keep an eye on our Facebook page – we’ll also be getting creative and writing a limerick of our own!

Spartan Warriors

September 5, 2013

f&n teamA little later than intended, but big Well Dones to the brave f&n-ers who tackled the latest Spartan Race (tag line:  “You’ll know at the finish line”), held at Saffron Walden Barracks last Sunday 1st September.Spartan 2013 2

Everyone managed to complete the very challenging course over, under and through all manner of obstacles (including a fire pit) and ended up thoroughly soaked, muddy and some with a few new bruises in interesting places – but all feeling justifiably pleased with themselves.

spartan 2013 3Out of a total of 3,576 runners our best-placed member achieved an impressive 14th place in 40 mins 44 seconds, with the last  f&n straggler coming in at number  2,048 in 1 hour, 24 mins and 26 seconds (needs to eat more of our Super Spinach?).

Strangely enough, all those asked so far have said they’d do it again – next year!
