Sustainability

At fresh & naked, through our farms at G’s, we work diligently to ensure commercial agriculture works in harmony with nature. Through our farming practices, cover cropping and crop rotations we are leaving our soil health and farms in an improved condition for future generations.

On our farms we take a sustainable approach to agriculture, harnessing the connections between sustainable soils and farm biodiversity to promote a healthy ecosystem. To ensure we deliver top quality salads.

Across our farming base we continue to invest in natural water resources, building reservoirs on the farm along with wetland creation, which also ensures that our wildlife is maintained, and beautiful environments are created.

We are actively reducing the amount of pesticides used on crops due to increasing cost, increased regulation and public sentiment. Coupled with global warming, these result in increased pressure from pests. So, whilst we try to avoid a little bug in your salad, it is representative of a healthy farming ecosystem, which is no bad thing!

Bumblebee Conservation Trust

This year, fresh & naked will once again be proudly supporting The Bumblebee Conservation Trust, look out for our Bumblebee Packs….

Bumblebees are hard-working and versatile pollinators of many food crops, garden & wildflower species.  In the last 80 years our bumblebee populations have crashed; two species have become nationally extinct and several others have declined dramatically.  The Bumblebee Conservation Trust are working to increase the number and distribution of bumblebees.  To find out more or get involved, go to www.bumblebeeconservation.org

Through our farms at G’s, we support the creation of pollinator-friendly habitat and wildlife corridors, to ensure our farming works in harmony with nature and provides an environment to encourage bumblebees.

As a G’s brand, fresh & naked contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, by steering CSR/ESG practices to bring you healthy, sustainable and ethically grown salads.

Sustainability Goals

One dilemma we have is how to package what we produce. We use a lot of plastic film bags – we’d rather not. The simple truth is that there isn’t a suitable environmentally friendly alternative as yet that works anywhere near as well as our current choice.

As soon as there is, we will be using it. Our customers rightly expect their food to be in the best condition possible and for the moment, plastic bags are the answer if food is to remain affordable, plentiful and safe.
